General Comments

I have called my car insurance because I saw that on my statement that the direct debits hadn't been taken. Spoke to the first advisor and told the girl that I though the money had gone out of my account but realised once I get the statement it hadn ' t. I got told that they had written to me advising me of this. I don't remember receiving this. If I had I would have called then, told then I will send a cheque. I asked how long I have to pay this. And I was told they can ' t tell me this as it an accounting issue and that the automatic process will decide when my policy is cancelled. I asked if I could be given time as I have just started a new job where I have to use the train and drive my car to the next town to park my car and leave it till the evening. Surely if I drive I could get an IN10 (driving with no insurance) lose my licence. I'm 22 and if I did lose my licence I doubt I ' d get insurance at a competitive rate!
I demanded to speak to a team leader who, told me the same thing. I ended the call and then called again. Speak to someone else who was able to explain the same again but explained that I would get another letter 7 days before the policy is cancelled. I said I will post a bankers cheque/draft when I get paid next week. BUT I would still be at risk of the policy being cancelled as a cheque takes 2 weeks to cash. A banker ' s cheque/draft will leave my account at the time the cheque is printed by my bank. And once the cheque is cashed the money will take 2-3 days to clear. 2 WEEKS what do they do with the cheque they receive? Frame then for a week?
I even offered to pay the full outstanding of the policy off by the end of the month. That ' s 9 months of premium to pay off in one month but still wasn ' t good enough. They still managed to say to me that it ' s an automatic cancellation and they can ' t discuss when this would be as it personal and can ' t be disclosed.
I worked at an insurance company and have never heard of this. We used to be able to delay cancellations within reason and even tell people when the policy would be cancelled, and never in my 2 years of working for the insurance company did I forbe people off.
I am considering canceling my insurance which I have been told is free of charge and they will issue my no claims bonus. I beg to differ whether the they will post it too me.
