Overall Rating
- Telephone Banking

- Local Branch

- Customer Service

- Internet Banking

- Cash Point Facility

In 15+ years of telephone banking with the Cooperative Bank I have only ever had one instance of bad service. The staff who answer the phone are friendly, extrememly helpful, polite and never pushy (unlike some of the other banks i deal with). Being open 24/7 is very convenient too.
Bad Points
I'd like a running total on my bank statements and it did take nearly 2 years for me to get the bank to pay my interest with tax deducted after i returned to work. However, when they did deal with it, they took care of it and compensated me. The bank does not often compete well in terms of its interest rates.
General Comments
The Cooperative is dedicated to keeping a UK call centre - I know because I checked some time ago - rather than outsourcing to a cheaper country - the benefits of dealing with someone 'local' particualary when sorting one's financial affairs are invaluable to me.
I believe the Cooperative status of the bank means my money is secure as the bank operates with caution.
I support their ethical stance and their cooperative status - as a customer I receive an annual payout based on what i spent within the group. I prefer to think other customers, cooperative employees and charities (which i have a chance to vote for) are benefiting financially from the Bank's success rather than some fat cats in the City.
I love that they don't push other products onto me.
The internet site is very easy to use.
