Good Points

Airdales 'Faithful to the end.'
Extremely Tough.
Excellent swimmers.
All around Hunting Dog except for birds...
By far the best watch dog, I've had Dobermans, Rotts, and German Shepards.
Like Cats if they grew up with them.
Airdales love people they know.
Airdales are very unique and prestigious, try to find one in the paper...good luck.

Bad Points

Biters as pups.(don't know their own strength and have very sharp teeth)
Like to slobber (dries his face on you after getting a drink)...we call it being slimed, he does it on purpose (a clown with an attitude.)
Hard to train (they are as other's say, very smart, and have a mind of their own..you better have alot of time on your hands to own an obedient Airdale.)
I have found they (Airdales) will retrieve, even in Icy waters, just won't give the bird back, and generally break the bones all up, they think it's a game.

General Comments

I think it takes a different kind of person to own (have) an Airdale. I think they are the best dogs in the world. Airdales also have an interesting history: First dog in the white house, can't remember which president (think it was Roosevelt) said it 'He can lick any dog and then be his friend a few minutes later.' Owned by the queen of England. If you're a John Wayne fan; the nickname 'Duke' was his Airdale's name, they are also in the Guinness book of world records for...during World War 2, being shot 7 times, behind enemy lines, and still delivery important documents...maybe an Airdale won the war..., just a few facts I thought everyone would enjoy.
