General Comments

In July I took out a policy with eCar. 07/08/08 - Letter from eCar stating they might to cancel the policy as they had not yet received my "proof of 5 years No Claims Bonus" from my previous insurers.
11/08/08 - I contacted eCar by email and letter to inform them that I was still awaiting my latest "proof" and that Customer Services at my previous insurers would be happy to verbally verify my 5yrs NCB in the meantime. In addition I included my old "proof 4yrs NCB" highlighting the relevant start/end dates to help them see that my information was valid and that upon receiving the latest "proof" I would forward it immediately.
12/08/08 - Letter from eCar informing me that they have amended my policy to 4yrs NCB however, I didn't realise they had charged me for the amendment.
15/08/08 - Another letter from eCar stating that my policy will now be cancelled in 7 days time as they have still not received my "proof NCB".
18/08/08 - My "proof 5yrs NCB" arrives and is duly dispatched to eCar asking them to ensure the policy is still active and that the correct original premiums are deducted only.
03/09/08 - Letter from eCar informing me that they have amended my policy to 5yrs NCB however, I didn't realise they had charged me for the amendment.
08/09/08 - Currently I am 41 days into a £ 531.18 quotation, I have already paid ( £232.39) nearly 50% of the full price (so much for installments). I have eventually managed to obtain a telephone number for them and I have now asked them to remove these 2 unexpected amendment charges ( £30 each). After speaking to customer services, they say they will remove one of the charges as a goodwill gesture but unhappy with this I will now have to make a formal complaint.

    I found this review helpful because my experience with ECar's customer service so far is very similar. This seems to confirm they have a bit of a problem with this aspect of the way they do business. Hopefully I can get my currently ongoing problems with ECar resolved; either way I will post a review here once the matter is dealt with.
