Good Points

Very cheap prices. Good choice. Easier buying by phone.


Bad Points

No test drive. First time buying by phone was a bit nerve racking.


General Comments

It came to that time when me and my husband ahd to change our car and to be honest we were dreading the usual weekend of being pounced on and being forced into cars we don't want. We're retired now and just didn't need the hassle. So we went online to see what we could find and found DC Cook. We live in Devon now but my husband worked (and so we lived) in Yorkshire in the 80's and we remembered their look for the dc cook sign jingle. As we therefore knew they'd been around a while, they had the cars we were interested in (a Fiat Punto or Renault Clio) and their prices seemed good, we gave them a call. We spoke to a friendly young man called Tom who gave us our quote, didn't try to sell us something we didn't want and when we said we wanted to think about it he didn't tyry to push us into buying. The part exchange price they gave us was a bit less than our local dealer, but the overall cost was far less. We were worried aboput not being able to test drive the car, but when we thought about it we'd already test driven both cars locally and because we just felt comfortable with Tom we called back and placed our order (for the Punto). We were quoted 8 weeks for delivery - we were a bit worried about what would happen next but their staff rang us every week or so to give us an update which made us relax a little. After about 6 weeks they called and said the car was almost ready and that they needed final payment. By now we had gotten over most of our nerves and paid the final balance. About a week later they called us again to arrange collection. We thought about paying to have it delivered, being such a long way away, but as they were in Sheffield we thought we'd kill two birds with one stone and see a few old friends in the area while we collected the car.
We've now got the car and we're very happy with it. All in all I have to say we have been very pleased with our experience with DC Cook - the only slight downsides were our feeling nervous through most of the process (hardly their fault and they did try and make us feel better throughout), the lack of test drive and the lower part exchange price - but like I've already mentioned the overall cost was much better.
I know generally people don't let the world know when they have good experiences, but we were so pleased I really thought I should let some people know that DC Cook are at least woirth giving a try.
