Icmeler beach front is lovely & well worth a visit. Take the boat trip to Dalyan, excellent value & Turtle Beach is unmissable!
Goldtrail Holidays...
I Booked this holiday with Goldtrail unwittingly through book cheap holidays.com.
At first I thought I had a good deal as the booking rep described the hotel as 5* & it was all inclusive for 374 pounds per person per week in August & I'd booked very late.
I was taking my 15 year old son & his 15 year old best friend, so the amenities at the hotel seemed ideal for them.
The flight was operated by Onur Air, on arrival at LGW (7.00pm) check in went smoothly & we settled down to wait for boarding. At 9.00pm with no announcement the departure changed on the display monitor from 9.50pm to 04.50 am! This is where the fun began, there were no representatives for Onur Air or Goldtrail that we could contact at the Airport, eventually a rep from Menzies (Transport Logisitics Company) explained that our plane had not in fact yet left Dalaman due to a technical fault.
We were asked to move back to the arrivals/check in area & told that our luggage would be retained overnight. We were told that no over night accomodation would be provided & were advised not to leave LGW, Menzies gave us a four pounds voucher each for refreshments.
During the night, sympathetic BAA staff, said that they saw this happen all the time. They also said that we shouldn't have been left like that.
Eventually our flight took off at 06.35 am, a delay of 8 hrs & 45 minutes!
We eventually arrived at our hotel in Icmeler, 12 hours later than we should have done!
No apology was offered by the Goldtrail rep as far as I am aware & when I enquired where or who to contact to make a claim, she advised me to contact my travel insurance company!
I do not believe The Icmeler Litera Deluxe is a 5*, it is rated by Goldtrail as a 5 sun hotel but in my opinion is its a poor 3*.
For me the rooms were shabby, the staff were unhelpful. I actually felt sorry for them having to endure the continuos complaints from Goldtrail customers, until I was on the receiving end of some extremely unhelpful conduct I feel.
I decided to make the most of the holiday & not get embroiled in the saga of complaints that other passengers were pursuing.
My son & his friend enjoyed the hotel & facilities & location. I found it noisy however & the food pretty poor, two of us did catch a stomach bug towards the end of the holiday.
The best thing in this hotel is the Turkish bath, I have had others & can reccomend this one.
I felt compelled to write an honest review, as I read both good & bad about this hotel & Goldtrail after booking my holiday.
Incidentally we were the third delayed flight from the Uk with Onur Air in that week!
Customers from Manchester were stranded for over 10 hours!
I have written to Goldtrail to request compensation for the delay under the EU reg 261/204, they are liable as this flight was booked as part of a package holiday offered by them!
