Good Points

Built in download manager, built in email and newsfeeds (RSS), smart pop-up blocking, customize your browser and the best Tab Browser on the market... the list goes on. OH and did I mention its Speed and Security and it's free!


Bad Points

Crashes from time to time and Bookmarks (Favorites) are quirky and outdated.


General Comments

Opera is the most feature rich browser on the market. Using Opera is akin to driving an S Class Mercedes-Benz. If you've never driven one you won't know what all the fuss is about.

Opera was one of the first browsers to offer multiple document interfaces (tab browsing). Tab browsing is fairly new on many browsers but Opera has been offering tabs browsing since the mid 90's. Compared to other browser Operas is by far the best allowing a high level of tab configuration. My person favorite is accidentally closing a tab; No problem click the trash bin and see list of all previously closed tabs. It even keeps your closed tab logged in to the site.

Another favorite feature is customizing your browser. This feature allows you to add, remove or rearrange all buttons, tool bars, address window and search window to your preferred layout. Settings for user are saved and different from other users who have different windows login. An added bonus is choosing from over hundreds of skins that Opera users have created themselves to really give you a personalize look and feel.

Opera with all its cutting edge features do however have a few short comings. One of the most annoying is its ability to crash from time to time. But hey, I put up with Internet Explorer crashing for many years so I have grown to be patient while they work out the bugs. Plus a nice feature that softens this downfall is when I reopen Opera all my previous tab are opened again. Another needed improvement for Opera is its Bookmarks (called Favorites in IE). Here is one example where Opera could take a cue from IE. I have several folders nested within one another so when navigating to a link the folders open across the page wider and wider with each folder. Bookmarks functions fine but it just seem clunky and outdated.

Aside for a couple of bad points keeping me from giving it a 10, Opera is an excellent browser. Since using it my web browser experience have increased 2-3 fold. And the beauty of it all is that it is free.
