Silks is not one of Dick Francis' better stories, but trots along as an easy read quite nicely. The next book needs to be less of a pick-and-mix from previous work to be worth buying! No barrister has appeared in a Dick Francis novel before. Good triumphed as usual, but good to see more acutal racing jockey descriptions - some of the later books got well away from the racecourses. However, almost as if they'd written a book by taking vicious attack from one book, girlfriend from another, cause of trouble from another, blackmailing from another..... some parts implausible. Need i go on?
