Cardiac Hill. Not good for very unfit or disabled people.

General Comments

A 20 minute taxi drive got us to the hotel, the Hotel & Spa Benalmadena Palace. We were early and our rooms weren't ready but we were given a voucher to get complimentary drinks whilst we waited and could leave our luggage in a secure room. The hotel sits at the far end of Benalmadena with views to the marina one side and some seaviews the other side. We had two studio apartments on the 7th floor, which actually had a separate bedroom, although they didn't have windows in them. Cooking facilities were very basic and were hardly used, and although we didn't really eat much in the hotel, you are a short walk to more restaurants and bars than you could ever possibly get through. Saying that, at night there was no noise at all from the resort. The beds were made most mornings and we had maid service 5 days out of 7. The animation team work to keep guests entertained all day with games and activities which centre on sporting activities, although we saw a large area where a lady was entertaining young children. The same staff run a disco for the kids at night before the main entertainment takes over. This was the usual hotel fare of visiting singers, magicians and zoo animals along with a rockabilly karaoke guy. We used the indoor pool more it being April, and that was the only thing I have to complain about as one of the lifeguards was incredibly rude which resulted in us complaining to the management. I mentioned cardiac hill as it is known. Yes it is steep but its not very long and you can access the hotel via the underground car park half way up it, so unless you have real mobility problems, I wouldn't let it put you off. There are bus stops at the bottom of the hill which will take you into Torremolinos or the other way and the marina is a definite must for a visit. We ate out every night for less than 50e for six of us including drinks which we thought was great value, oh and there is a supermarket at the bottom of the hill and a Burger King and Macdonalds within walking distance for those who just can't leave England behind.
