Best looking jap 4 cyl bike on the market, Rocket fast! cult following, build quality now on par with Honda, much better than Suzuki, and a lot better than a Kawasaki zx-10.
Bad Points
Slight lack of mid-range compared to the gixxer though (I just fitted a 47 tooth rear sprocket) sorted!
General Comments
Bought my 2008 bike after owning a 2004 R1, both bikes are awesome machines, but you need to be a good rider to get the most from them, they are easy to ride below 7000 rpm if you've not been riding big bikes for long......but after 7k.....10k...rpm....things get ballistic, so like I said, beware. Spend 40 quid getting the suspension set up, fit some sticky tyres and off you go. Don ' t let anyone tell you ' you can ' t tour on a sports bike" I ' ve been down into France and the R1 was ample in the comfort area. Just go buy one!
