Good Points

comfort, lots of space inside, luxury SUV, lots of technology, good diesel engine, 30mpg which is not bad for a 2 ton car. compared to a lot of other 4x4s theses are still good looking although opinions vary.

Bad Points

Can be expensive to fix if some thing goes wrong, do have problems with alternators and propshafts.

General Comments

Out of the rest of ML class (98-05 models)the Mercedes ML 270 cdi would be the best choice for economy and to run, but does have the power there when you need it especially when the turbo kicks in, opt for the lux packs with the 7 seats and tiptronic, in general theses cars are not that bad as they say with certain reviews over the years they are still a brilliant luxury suv compared to other 4x4s on the market as these had the technology way before these new 4x4s are hitting the market, you can pick one for a good price nowadays for a lot of metal as the new shape came out in 05 making the 98-05 shape value for money to buy.
One final note these are not gas guzzlers that every one thinks they are, they produce just the same or less omissions like a ordinary cars with modern diesel engines. Only the petrol ones of theses can be juicy which I would steer clear of unless you have the money to feed them.
