General Comments

My boyfriend and I picked out an engagement ring from Beaverbrooks a few weeks ago, within the correct budget, only to find that last week they added 15% on to the price of the ring, that was already at £995. It now stands at £1150! bearing in mind that it was already quite expensive I think this price increase is ridiculous, I wouldn't have minded really, but it's the principal really, we will now be looking elsewhere.

Re clareabella's disappointment in the ring going up in price, I work in a well known jewellers (NOT BEAVERBROOKS) and would like to point out that the prices do not go up for no reason. The price of gold and platinum is very much on the up right now, I have no doubt that what they are now asking for the ring is a fair price for what you get, however if you were to go back to the store I would imagine that they have a similar ring in a smaller carat weight, that is within your budget. Lastly, if you tried on the ring a few weeks ago and knew it was the one you wanted, why not buy it then, if you had, you could have walked past the window now, and seen that you got a bargain. My recommendation, if you like it and can afford it, buy because you could go back and it could be sold, (or have had an annoying price increase.)
