Good Points
Great story, impressive sets and lovely music/singing.
Bad Points
A bit backside numbing because of the length.
General Comments
More a modern opera than simple musical, sung all the way through in demi-recitative fashion. Grand, opulent and wonderfully harmonic. My family and I were transfixed by the superb range of voices, acting and lovely music. Standing ovation at the end, and this was a matinee. Not many shows can boast that, surely. The leads were all excellent, rich bass/baritone through glorious tenor and onto the ladies voices of purity and impressive range.
Well done the whole cast, a sombre and serious show it may be but it left us smiling as we went home.
