Good Points

Works much quicker than pills.
Should have less side effects.
Can use on an empty stomach! (some pill manufacturers recommend taking Ibuprofen with a meal).

Bad Points

The effort of having to apply the gel rather than just taking a pill.
If you have sensitive skin it cause cause some mild irritation, but this will subside eventually.
Keep your hands away from your face until you've washed the gel off.
Doses are less easy to control than with pills - always read the label

General Comments

I use Deep Relief Dual Action Gel on my arm and shoulder due to an old injury I can't quite get rid of. I definitely prefer this to pills.
The gel itself is generally easy to apply. It's easy to use too much though so be careful. The good thing is that it also contains menthol so it doesn't smell as bad as some other gels and this also starts reducing pain after a couple of minutes.
I think the only real drawback is the length of time taken to apply it compared with just taking pills. This removes the convenience of pills, which you can take when sitting on a train or in the office, but try applying this gel to your arm and see how long it is before someone complains about the smell of menthol.
Plus, I learned the hard way that having your hands too close to your face or eyes immediately after applying this gel is not a good idea...

That said, I prefer this product to any pills. I've used this for bumps, bruises, sprains and it works well on all.
