General Comments

I have done 12000 Miles in the last 18 months on my 57 plate Suzuki GZ and would say it has been a very good bike, but I am starting to get a little board with it. The good points are that it is cheep to run, very safe and quick enough for town riding. Unfortunately I get a top speed of 55MPH in everything but the best of conditions (but then my cross Cotswold ' s 50 mile daily run is not exactly flat and open roads) and rust is a real pain. Having said that the rust is nothing bad, only cosmetic, but still, it is a bike that is supposed to look good. Although I have ridden it every day for the past 12 months, so it has had more abuse than most bikes. In terms of reliability, I have only had two problems. 1) Electrical gremlins, due to problems with the way the shop put the bike together (A rubbing cable they should have tied back) 2) The OE chain. It is too small and wares far too quickly. As soon as it goes get the whole chain and sprocket replaced. It should cost around £80, but worth every penny (as this is for a top quality one and will only be about £20 more than the OE one) Other than that I get 100+ MPG, front brake pads lasted 7000 miles and the rear tyre is just about gone, so will be done at the next service so good life from that. The only other thing I would recommend is keep an eye on your oil levels. It can get low between its services, even though they are only every 2500 miles, but it only needs about 200ml every 1000 miles. Hopefully I will soon do my test and be able to get something bigger, but this has done me well, and looking back, if I had passed my DAS two years ago I would probably have gone splat, or at least not had the confidence I now do. If I can't afford a bigger bike, then when it rusts to much this one is getting a drab olive paint job, back seat off, chrome painted black and some ex army ammo boxes for luggage.
