Visual acuity for astigmatics is exceptional
The Acuvue Toric contact lenses are very good for astigmatics, however the lag time between eye movement and restored visual acuity is annoying for the active individual, or driver. More research has to be done in this field. When one has a lifestyle in which they rapidly and quickly look around their environment eg. mountainbiking downhill, problems certainly do occur as the lense takes a while to move around the conjunctiva before optimal focal points are achieved. Hence, after rapid eye movement, there is a lag of about .75 seconds until visual acuity is recovered. This wreaks havoc when barreling down a 60 degree slope on a bike, or racing on the freeway, or even walking on a busy street.
