Cheap to buy
Expensive to run.
Drinks ink because of the cleaning cycle - even if I print less than 1 page PER WEEK, my cartridges will need replacing about three times per year - that's 12 cartridges.
Ghastly running costs for light users. Might be ok if you get the ink printed before it is all wasted on the cleaning cycle.
Brother Multifunction machines are cheap - because they must make huge amounts on the ink.
If you absolutely must buy this machine - use cheapo ink as I don't think using their own ink makes the slightest jot of difference when you get the famous Error 41 (Print head dead - though it works just fine in test mode!)
For inkjet, stick with Epson or HP, for lasers, Brother are not too bad - but mine seems clunky and noisy - and only seem to get part-filled toner carts when you buy them new - unlike HP which always give full toner carts. Bear this in mind when comparing costs - a Brother unit may only have half the stated page count before you need to buy more toner.
