Close to St Ives. Buses come on site in the season, which is great if you're going into St Ives, as you can't park easily. Good to use as a base.
Dated facilities. Lots of chalets are dated and damp. Heavily wooded site with some accommodation in near darkness. Clubhouse and pool is really all there is to do. Do not come here if you want a park where you can stay on all day.
I've been to St Ives holiday village twice before. Once in a Trevacroft chalet, we found ours VERY damp and mouldy. Would not stay in one of them again. Our friends stayed in a woodland silver, that was awful and tiny. The second time we went we were concerned about the accommodation being damp again and prepared for the worst, we had booked a Forest Gold. But we were quite surprised, it was pvc double glazed, totally wood cladded inside, 2 ok sized bedrooms, bathroom with a proper shower cubicle, heated towel rail, heaters in every room. It wasn't luxury, but clean and passable, an ok size for 4. Ours was next to the road so we could park directly outside, which meant it wasn't full in the woods like some of the others. The club, restaurant, amusements and reception are all in together. The amusements were tiny, a 10 minute job. The restaurant, I couldn't really call it that, an uninviting room--use St Ives for restaurants. The pool, not as it looks in the brochure, it couldn't keep kids entertained, very dull. The club, its ok for a drink after you've been offsite touring all day. It's not Haven style, put it that way. It's just a club, not that big and dated, there's no glamour about it. The entertainment we saw on both occasions wasn't great. It closes at midnight, dead on. If you want an all action type of club, I don't recommend coming here. Ok, if there's a gang of you going you can make your own fun. Most of the bad reviews are right Having said all that we've booked again for October this year, in a Forest gold, a week for £166.00, only because we want to be near St Ives. This was a lot cheaper than a cottage or flat in St Ives. We will spend every day offsite, comeback and get ready to go out, maybe the site clubhouse a couple of times or down to St IVES to the restaurants or pubs there, depending how naff the site entertainment is! That is what this site is good for, I wouldn't book any less than the Forest Gold as the other stuff was rubbish. There is nothing on the site at all in the day. Only any good as a base to tour Cornwall. We only use it now, to get extra holidays in, when it's cheap, so we can get down to Cornwall as much as possible. Wouldn't pay big money again for it in July/August, its not worth it, I'd find somewhere else. Hope this has helped anyone who's thinking of booking get a bit of a picture of the place. Good luck!.
