Good service, friendly staff, smooth check in and flight went smooth. Good in flight entertainment system.
Unable to provide skycot on transcontinental flight.
30 minute delay on 2nd leg of journey, however, pilot made up for delay which should have been 1,5 hours.
We flew Delta from Manchester, UK to New York JFK and from there to Los Angeles. We had 2 great flights, making me confident to recommend Delta.
Flights were comfortable, with enough legroom and because we had our baby daughter with us they had saved us a third seat next to us on the first leg of the journey, which meant she could sleep on there. This made up for the lack of a skycot, however, I still find it slightly odd that on a transcontinental flight they do not offer this facility.
There was two faults on this journey. However, for me in situations like this it is about how faults are dealt with that counts, that is what customer service comes down to for me. On the 2nd leg we were double booked in our seats. Whilst some flight attendants wanted to get a manager involved, the head stewardess decided to solve this herself and so she did and she did well. Within minutes she had allocated us to two new seats which, thank God, also had a third seat free next to it! So with it being UK time for our daughter to sleep, this meant she slept pretty much all the way there! This allocation meant the plane could leave sooner too, rather than waiting for the manager to come onboard.
Because of a necessary plane swap we were 1,5 hours delayed at that time. However, the pilot made up an hour on the journey, which meant we were only 30 minutes late arriving in LA. The plane swap also meant we had a full complimentary in flight entertainment system available (normally a paid service on Delta US Domestic flights).
Downsides to this journey were pretty much outside of Delta's control. New York JFK was a security chaos, which we were blessed to miss due to being given preferential treatment as a result of travelling with a baby. The other issue was with the domestic arrival terminal in LA which when it comes to luggage reclaim is a poor operation.
When it comes to Delta's side of this trip though, I recommend them.
