Bad Points

Hiring from Hertz left me with a bad taste and a huge bill.
No way to check car at pick up but extreme scrutenty at the drop of point.


General Comments

We picked up our car at Hertz Schiphol airport in Amsterdam.
The car was parked extremely close to the other rentals cars in a very dark multi-storey car park.
We checked it as good as we could and drove off.
After rental we returned the car to Hertz Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and at the drop of point the car was inspected under extreme bright lighting what I can only describe as the kind of lighting used at a photo shoot.
Immediately the guy pointed at a scratch at the rear bumper as if he knew what to look for and told us that we had to pay for that as we did not have the extra insurance.
I drive for 20 years and have never scratched or dented a car in that period and I was extremely surprised, especially as I did not notice the scratch during the renting period, only with the extreme bright light it could be seen very well.
Funny thing was that the guy missed the chip in the front windscreen that was already there when we picked the car up.
We protested but as the insurance company is also owned by Hertz they decided that the matter was closed and they charged 350 Euro;s on our credit card without our consent.

    I agree with this review because...I have experienced the same thing from Hertz. charges for damage that I dispute without my consent, Fortunately my credit card company agreed with me and got me a refund but now hertz are billing me directly..
