Reliable, bullet proof, great feel keyboard, very mobile
Bad Points
baettery life isn't too long
General Comments
We have used this laptop as an extra wireless workstation in the house and never had a problem. We gave it a tuneup every six months or so and it runs Windows XP Pro w/Office 2003 just fine. Internet, Windows Messenger, email, Fireworks and Dreamweaver are also loaded and run great!

I bought an IBM Thinkpad R40e in February 2004 after my R31 was quite impolitely stolen. It is a very cheap machine (<£600) and lacks several features that the R31 had.

Bottom line is, I am pretty sure slmodem will not work with kernel 2.6 and the R40e. The developers plan is to eventually incorporate it into the alsa driver when time permits.
