General Comments
Let me start with the Zoom Airlines flight leaving Halifax which was delayed for 2 hours for reasons unknown, not a good start. I left England on August 6, 2008, my flight was suppose to leave at 12:00pm. I checked Zoom website before I left my friend's place and it said the flight was leaving on time. After the 1hour drive to Gatwick airport we arrived and stood in the lineup to check my bags. A rep from Zoom was there and passed me a letter stating that the flight would be delayed until 4:15pm, a 4hour and 15 minute delay, it was 8:30am, technical difficulties. I advised him that I checked the website and it said the plane was leaving on time, he apologized...HA! Somehow I knew the flight would probably leave closer to 5:30pm. I would not allow my friend to drive back to his house again then drive back to Gatwick, that would have been a total of 4 hours driving back and forth to the airport. I thought the 10 pound voucher Zoom gave everyone was a joke, I was stuck in the airport ALL DAY and all they do is give people a voucher?? The flight FINALLY left at 5:30pm as I first thought it would. While I was on the flight back to Halifax, my Mother, who lives in Halifax, went on Zoom's website to check my flight status and it stated that my flight left ON TIME!! Are you kidding me??? Zoom can't update their own website in a timely manner?? I guess it's a good thing I was in contact with my Mother at the internet cafe at the Gatwick airport. My friend back in England also called Zoom and asked what time my flight left, they told him they didn't have that information... he politely said, 'you mean to tell me you don't know when your own plane left Gatwick'? The rep on the other end went silent, my friend hung up. My friend found a different website with the correct information as to the time my flight left Gatwick... pretty bad when the correct info isn't on the Zoom website. The baggage allowance, what a joke!! Do you realize that some suitcases weight about 7 lbs on their own, with nothing in them?? Every single airline has a 50 lb weight limit PER BAG. I find it close to impossible to have 2 bags that weigh 22 lbs EACH, unless I hardly bring anything with me. I can tell you from experience that I travel light but when a person goes on vacation for 2 weeks you need more that 44 lbs total for clothes and essentials. I don't believe for one minute that ANY flight should be delayed more than an hour in the dead of summer. I have been to Cuba in February on WESTJET and we left ON TIME in a snow storm AND came back home a week later and landed ON TIME in another snow storm. I can tell you one thing for sure... due to the baggage weight limit and the delayed flight both ways... I will NEVER take another Zoom flight ANYWHERE!! I have told all my friends about my experience with Zoom AND I m going to write reviews as well. Word of mouth is a powerful thing. I'm praying that WESTJET expands their service to the UK by next Spring when I want to go back and visit my friends in the England.
