POF is mostly a collection of single mums. Which is great if you're a single dad, but otherwise not so great. There are single women without kids on the site, but a small percentage, of these most are not what professional men would go for, the remaining few are inundated with so many emails it's not really worth your effort to even play. Very few women there ever initiated a connection and most men of worth will not line up in email queues.
The end result is most men, who are there, are just using it for one thing. Professional men, generally won't go there. Nothing wrong with that I guess if that's what you're looking for... but there are better safer ways.
The flip side of this is true as well. Most professional women won't go there either, because of what I mentioned above.
Decent people with something to offer with suitable life situations do show up on the site from time to time. I say about 10-15% fit this demographic. If you have the time to go through you will find them, but you still have to contend with the email issues and the multi dating with the occasional player (wannabe) as well. .
