General Comments

We purchased house content insurance. The insurance seems cheap - but they will charge you for the slightest things. I have never dealt with a company which has been so bad. We moved house in April this year and I phoned to notify Budget Insurance of our change of address. This was just the start of the Saga! I was informed that I would be charged £25.00 admin fee, which is entirely excessive in my point of view. The sales advisor took some details from me and, as if by magic, our policy had gone up to £25.00 per month for going from a one bedroom flat to a two bedroom! I asked for policy documents to be sent to the new address and was informed this would happen. I was told I could download them online also - this was in April and 4 months on I still cannot view them online. One call centre operator informed me that "some people can view them online and some people can't" he had no idea why this was - very helpful! I only received my policy documents 4 months later. This was only after talking to numerous call operators and eventually supervisors over a long 4 month period. To say that I was frustrated was an understatement. I am normally a calm and collected person, but this company had me so angry I could feel horns growing out my forehead! But, the saga continues. Budget then sent me two copies of my documents one after the other and detailed on the first page that they were charging me £10 for each set of copies! I swiftly phoned up and demanded to speak to a supervisor. They gave me the usual spiel - "no one is available to take your call right now" but I stated I was not getting off the phone until I talked to one. My money is being refunded and they will not charge me the further £10. Money that they should never have taken in the first place! I thoroughly regret being a customer and cannot wait till November when our policy ends! Also, watch as they charge a high interest on your payments if you pay monthly. Our policy is also wrong, but without seeing policy documents for 4 months, you lose the right to change anything after 14 days without paying another £25! They also charge you £35 to cancel the policy and will further charge you a percentage of what is left on your policy.
