Good Points

Superb road handling : -
British Bike, Made for British Roads.
Good looking and curvy still modern looking.
I had the 99 (V reg).
Perfect mid range power, the triple cylinders have been so much fun and make it the best in its range.
Great sounding engine, good speed. Everyone will notice the engine tone.
Slim + Slender body, making it ideal for filtering through traffic.

Bad Points

Can get rough at top end speeds, starts to rattle in the triple figures...
Clutch is easily cooked out (still uses cork for friction!) Get a kevlar set as soon as you go in for your next service if you haven't done so already - you will notice a world of difference.
Can be very thirsty - If rallied around a bit to much, and being a Triumph parts can be expensive.

General Comments

This is a British Bike. Just remember that. Its not made for anywhere else but GREAT Britain.
The handling is tough and made for British roads.
The bike shape itself is slender and very slim allowing for very easy passing through the traffic and filtering with great ease - like passing silk between the thighs! Has a great turning arc, hence allowing for sharp turns behind cars when filtering.
I used to get around 160 miles to the tank (180 if I rode sensibly), great sunday riding or getting somewhere very quickly! As you can imagine, the fuel injection does exactly that - burns more to give you more!
It looks great and sounds excellent - the triple cylinder kicks out the same power out put as some bigger engined bikes - but be warned, they can be expensive to maintain. Keep regular service intervals, observe the wear limits (valve balancing, tyres, fluids etc) otherwise more work maybe necessary resulting in more money spent for servicing.
Other bikes similar to this would be the.... (dunno - I still can't think of a bike that is in the same category as this....!).
For cost effective-ness and value for moeny with performance its a great bike! And to top it all off, only a group fiftteen insurance group! That magic 955cc.
Overall an excellent bike - I sorely miss mine - Kingston University was given to do research on one - I was so jealous of the Motorcycle Engineering Department, so I went out an bought one! (I was aero!)....
Now I have no motorbike...
