“I am getting ready to go on vacation and wanted to get...”

I am getting ready to go on vacation and wanted to get a bigger room than I originally booked for our family of four. I booked a studio room, non refundable and I understood that we couldn't get a bigger room without paying an upgrade price and we were fine with that. But what bothered me is that I found out that our rate that hotel charged is $50 (per night!!!!) less than what expedia charged us. I was so upset.

We are staying for 8 nights and already overpaid $400.00. I know that Expedia has to make money to but that is outrageous and I will never book with expedia again. For the money they charged us for 2 queen beds room we could have a suite with a full kitchen and breakfast buffet for 2 people for 8 days.

I am spreading the word so you people out there pay attention and always ask for your breakdowns !!!! Expedia gave me $50 credit toward my next trip but that is NEVER going to happen. Just be careful please!

We all work very hard for our money and it's just not fair.

Expedia uses a distribution system connected to the hotel's server. What they were offering you at the time of booking is the current negotiated rate available in the hotel's server. Prices do fluctuate depending on supply and demand and changes could happen within a matter of minutes. That is why Expedia offers the best price guarantee, wherein if you find a more affordable price for the hotel within 24 hours after booking it, they will refund you the difference. If you bought say an airfare for $100 Tuesday and then comes Thursday the airline lowered the price to $50 because there are a lot more seats available on the flight, will you get a refund from the price you have first agreed to purchase it with? never.
