Good Points

Excellent torque and power throughout the rev range (it will cruise comfortably at 17mph in 5th). Quiet, smooth with great handling. Driven modestly, it is easily possible to achieve 30+ mpg.
Huge boot as well. I love this car.


Bad Points

The seats. I hate the seats. Very poor lateral support, right knee tends to rest against the hard door handle. The seats in my old Escort RS were far superior to these. Problem may be sorted in the revised 2001 models


General Comments

Great all-rouder. Striking looks and style with practicality, unlike it's competitors the Cougar is a hatchback, so with rear seats down the boot is cavernous.

Effortless power delivery and great noise from the V6 make the Cougar a pleasure to drive. Even after living with the it for nearly 2 years I still get a buzz from driving this car. Just a shame about those poorly designed seats.
