Guest's Review of Office Angels www.officeangels.co.uk Recruitment Agency

Overall Rating

0.5 stars
    Good Points

    - Quick to contact me to come into the office for registration.
    - Friendly, receptive, helpful when taking assessment tests.
    - Welcoming atmosphere/layout of office furniture, stools, chairs, etc in the branch office.

    Bad Points

Seemed completely unprepared to speak with me.
    - I don't think they even read my CV.
    - Immediately showed me a 'filtered' version of my CV, with all of the buzz words highlighted in red, because clearly this would pinpoint EXACTLY the type of work I was looking for.
    - Gave me assessment tests that did not appear to follow suit with the skills I had listed on my CV or on their registration forms.

    General Comments

This is a review of my particular experience during the registration process.

I went to an Office Angels branch after being contacted by one of their recruiters. She said she had a job perfectly in line with what I was looking for, but would not tell me anything other than it was local before I went into their offices to register. She said the process would take no longer than an hour and that I should come in that very day, late PM because she wouldn't be in the office herself until that time.

The atmosphere was pleasant and I was treated well from the moment I walked through the door, but once the interview started it seemed as though she hadn't read a word on my CV. I had explicitly written that I was looking to move away from xyz.. Lo and behold the job she had found for me was exactly what I was moving away from, thanks to those ridiculous buzz word searches they do. I've been to at least 4 agencies in the past and never before have I spoken with someone who appeared so unprepared.

I didn't want to appear rude, but I was immediately skeptical, not to mention annoyed. We went through the motions of going over my job expectations in detail while she jotted down notes, even though it was information that could have been found on the CV lying right in front of her.

Once we moved on to the assessment tests, I was given a numeracy and spelling test, along with a two application tests. They were very basic but the application tests had a lot of questions. After nearly two hours it was coming up to dinner time and I realized that the tests didn't even seem like a reflection of the skills I had listed on my CV. I had to skip one of the application tests because the first took me so long to finish. I was out the door shortly after that.

I've registered with other agencies in the past and I've never had to put so much time and effort in for what felt like so little initial progress.
