Good Points

I've used my Sony Mavica FD90 as my "eBay camera" since it was new back in 2000 -- eight years ago. It's great for taking close-ups of jewels with the autofocus. Images are crisp, clear and high quality. The camera has a large screen (2.5 inches) so you can see exactly what you are shooting. Resolution can be set from low to extremely high. My favorite feature is its unique ability to use plain old floppy disks to hold the photos (JPEGs) before offloading them onto my PC's hard drive where I then use PhotoShop to flip, crop, and so forth. No muss, no fuss. I spent $700 on the camera new at Best Buy and it's been worth every penny. Wish SONY still made them!

Bad Points

It's not a "tiny" digicam. It's about as large as the old Brownies that my grandmother used in the '50s, but it is NOT a delicate camera. If you don't want to carry a bunch of floppies, it is capable of using a Memory Stick, although I've never used one with my camera. Some folks have noted that their older Mavicas now get error messages. The only problem I've had is getting a 'disk protect' message lately (after eight years) when I insert some floppies. I've read that all it needs is a "blow-out" from a can of air.

General Comments

Since the Sony Mavica MVC FD90 camera is no longer manufactured by Sony, I strongly recommend that you ask sellers any and all questions about the condition of their cameras before you buy. If they are reputable and say the camera has no issues, they are available on eBay or Amazon for between $100 - $150, usually with original accessories included. SONY introduced a model around 2001 or 2002 that used CDs rather than floppies. I started to buy one, but was told by Best Buy that they'd returned all of theirs because no one was buying them. The Mavica FDs have a unique group of camera enthusiasts. I've seen a couple of these cameras with asking prices near a grand and I don't quite get that price. ;)
