cheques are processed same day if handed before certain time (my branch is 1:15) , staff are friendly and buildings are modern. always some-one to help.
Bad Points
bank charges, sometimes feel like they are trying to acheave brownie points rather than help you out.
General Comments
I signed up to HSBC about 4 years ago now, at the time I had Lloyds TSB and Barclays bank accounts which I still have but they only have about 10 pounds in them. They are always pushing technology, lots of machines in the branches for almost everything, including coffee and win a car. One funny point I noticed is that the color scheme is red, as in as soon as you walk in 'you in the red ' , I have amused myself with that thought now and then. They have flexible plans for what ever you need, I ' ve been offered a really good travelers account many times - sometimes too much - but I now when I go for my gap year I will willingly pay the monthly charges for free travel insurance, discounts and cash withdrawals. The ISA account that I have 5.2% I think, up to 2,000 pounds is great if you ' re a student and likes to see the free money they give you, BAD POINTS, charges on more than one occasion I have been charged for going overdrawn, then charged again for going overdrawn because of the initial charge. In total getting a 35 pound charge for going 3 pounds over. Be aware the major banks are currently in court over this matter (they are running a mock proceedings last time I checked) and it is possible to reclaim you money back by sending a legal notice informing them of your discontent also threaten to take them to court, court it kryptonite to banks. Over all I ' m happy it provides a cutting edge service and I guess the staff can't do much about the charges, + I love their adverts.
