I have just got back from a week in Hisaronu and unfortunately, my hotel (The Millennium) was the only bad thing about it.
First of all, on our arrival, they managed to 'misplace' half of groups' bags from the coach. They were eventually found but having your bags moved without you being there and then enduring a very slow check-in wasn't a lot of fun after a 14 hour journey!
To say our room was basic would be kind. Luckily, my partner and I are quite young so the what felt like a million stairs to get to the room didn't present too much of a problem! When we did reach our room it stank of stale water but with it being the small hours of the morning, we left the window open and went to bed.
It later turned out the smell was due to the extremely poor quality of the shower... the water managed to squirt out of the spouts in the shower head and out of the sides of the shower head meaning absolutely everything in the bathroom was drenched after a 5 minute shower. Obviously, it didn't take long for most things to dry except the lovely swimming pool we always ended up with on the floor - hence the smell.
We were advised that although we would only get clean sheets and towels every 3 days, we would get a cleaner everyday. Not so... In our week's stay, we had a cleaner twice and fresh towels once. This wouldn't have been much of a problem but due to not being allowed to flush any toilet paper, having the bin in the bathroom fill up was not very pleasant so thank God there was only 2 of us!!
Trying to sleep at night was a joke. We had no air con so was very hot which makes for an uncomfortable night but having what I assume to be the owners' or locals' dogs housed in cages just outside our balcony the barked, growled and howled all night was extremely frustrating. This occurred most nights through out our holiday and there were several guests that were also complaining about the noise.
One night during our stay, there was an arrival of new guests on the same floor as us. That night, they had their music in there room so loud that I thought it was the hotel bar! This went on for a couple of hours before the group went out. When the group came back, there was an argument between guests because of the noise they were causing, I saw no hotel management at this time.
This was my 6th trip to Hisaronu and, as usual, I had a lovely time. Just a shame our hotel was a bit of a disappointment.
