Have had the samsung 8500 for 3 months, dropped about a dozen times, thru rain, cold, and warm weather, phone can take abuse, and still perfect working order, only a few minor dings and nicks in the plastic. Lots of features including a web browser, calculator, phone directory and voice recorder. Also you can set different ringer tones to different phone numbers.
Bad Points
Heats up after about 15 - 20 minutes while talking, sometime can be in the middle of a conversation in a good service area, and calls get dropped for no reason, and it says looking for service, on the sprint pcs network. Short battery life, but you can get a bunch of accessories including a extra long life battery from ebay for just under $40. Lack of outter screen also, you have to flip the phone up to see who is calling, or set a ringer tone..
General Comments
Overall the Samsung 8500 is a good phone. Durable, clear voice conversations, plus all the features including the voice recorder. Good for business people, and students alike.
