General Comments

My partner's daughter was approached by this Professional Makeover £ Photo Shoot company, Doubletake, who were doing a promotion. Free photographic sitting, with an option to buy the photos. Sounds good. Nice day out. All the details were taken over the phone and she needed to pay 1 pound for registration. Stupidly I allowed her to use my debit card for this payment. She then realised that it would be very difficult for her to attend, as she actually has no transport. So she tried to cancel. They told her they would charge her a cancellation fee, and was made to re-book, even though she knew she couldn't get to Manchester from our village in Yorkshire.
I called the company, Doubletake to advise them that my partner's daughter would not be attending, and I also advised them not to charge my account for any cancellation fees as it was in fact nothing to do with me. I had done what I thought was a favour. I was unable to speak to anyone so I left a message on their answer machine, no-one got back to me, or her until the appointment day when they called her and asked her if she was still coming. She told them she wasn't and that was it. We both thought no more about it, until today 198 pounds was taken out of my account, I assume because she re-arranged once and then failed to show. My partner's daughter had not signed any agreement, but the small print on the Welcome Pack that was sent to her, talks about re-arrangement fees and cancellation fees. My partner's daughter says none of this was discussed on the telephone when they initially approached her.
So my advice is to be very careful with this company.
Make sure you really want to do this and no unforeseen events will arise otherwise you maybe charged heavily for it
According to their welcome pack cancellation is free, upto 7 days after receipt of the welcome pack arrives.
I have been unable to speak to any body at the company so far, and tomorrow I am approaching Trading Standards if I don't get any joy with them.
