General Comments

12 months back I followed the correct procedure to cancel my contract with Carphone Warehouse - I received a call from their Customer Cancellations dept. The gist of the call was apparently to offer as much as possible to keep me in contract afer it had lapsed - I had already Gone with Orange direct as CPW could offer nothing decent at upgrade time (soon changed their tune when canceling though) I advised that i had already gone with another service provider - the girl at CPW then said well you can keep the sim and number for the next 12 months - it will cost you nothing as we will waive the line rental and at the end of your new contract you can come back to us with the same number, or not if you wish. when i said that I dont really need to as I'm now in an 18 month and it is very very unlikely i would come back to you or ever use CPW again, the girl carried on pushing and said theres no catch and nothing to lose. I asked if i would be tied in and she said no - so i just thought what the hell - its their money and i have no intention of using the sim. At this stage there was no mention of contracts, extensions there of, or any terms and conditions read back to me - because if there was I presume it would have flagged up to me i was renewing my contract.

They are now trying to bill me for line rental now the 12 months credit has run out.

I have recently contacted CPW and the representative just kept quoting terms and conditions back at me, even though I explained that the original retention specialist had not and i felt that i had valid complaint and wanted the the contract cancelling asap - this was met again with T and C's and i would have to write in (30 days canx and line rental being charged in that time. He was unable to put me through to a supervisor or floor manager and also said that in no circumstance would one of CPW's operatives lie.

I asked for the transcript of my original telecon with the girl operative. I am still waiting for this - in the meantime I have sent written cancellation and cancelled the numerous Direct Debits they have set up.
