zEURE's Review of Cuil, www.cuil.com
30th Jul 2008
Overall Rating
I prefer Cuil's interface if I am honest, but I'm not sure if its just because I am so used to Google that I like something a little different. However, I do think its pretty cool or 'Cuil' the way you can see the homepage and it comes up with related topics, just the general layout really offers something diffferent and to be honest I like it.
Bad Points
The Good points would be great if Cuil actually worked, in my experience the searches I have put in have come up with stupid results I feel. For example, you search for Reviews and Japanese Adult Stars came up in Related topics, the results were not what I was looking for and this has happened with nearly all search terms. The answer to this I feel is keep trying very specific search terms to get your results, or just use Google, simple and easy, never failed me.
General Comments
In my opinion Cuil will be no competitor to Google until it at least works, in my experience the results have been stupid (examples above). When comparing Cuil search engine bad points with Google's bad points you can really see the difference, one works, is simple, still cool and never lets you down... the other is the opposite.
Ok, if Cuil gave me what I wanted when I searched, then to be honest maybe, just maybe, I would use it over cool, I do fancy the interface, it has a cool layout and I like the idea of related topics. Just ashame, as I have made it very clear now, it doesnt work...
Therefore I do not recommend Cuil Search engine, use Google!

Completely agree, to be honest I'm surprised at the media and the attention Cuil has got, I have seen better search engines that no one seems to of heard of. It also suprises me that the team that built Cuil (as far as I am aware) used to work for Google. Therefore surely they would build a website that at least works, this comment is from my experience, as I personally cant seem to find anything that I am searching for. Not recommended.
