General Comments
I have banked with HSBC for over 15 years, whilst in University I was given an interest free overdraft of £1500 and a credit card which originally had a limit of £500 later £2000, they also offered low rate loans on a graduate account. When I found myself in financial difficulty and owing no more than about £5000 I went to them for a consolidation only to be told they couldn't help! There was nothing wrong with my credit rating but because I lived in my overdraft I was high risk! This resulted in me being charged every month for unauthorised overdraft requests! They continually rung me with threats advising I need to bring my account back into the black, yet they continued to allow transactions to be made. When I called to query why they continued to pay direct debits when there was no money I was advised by some person in a foreign call centre that I was 'irresponsible' and didn't 'manage my account correctly!' They then proceeded to debit £200 in bank charges without notification and then when I called advised me I should be aware of these charges! They then sent a letter advising they would be collecting the sum the following month another phone call to Bangalore and they admitted they had made a mistake! their charges and non notification of the collection of charges have put my account over my agreed overdraft resulting in several debt collectors calling! They then had the audacity to send a leaflet advising if I was in financial difficulty that I could talk to them and they would be there to help and that it was in their interests to help! ha!! they don't care the worlds local bank! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
