Good Points

Quotation line open all weekend.


Bad Points

Customer service non-existent. All calls recorded but customers are not allowed to listen to their own calls. Very quick to take your money then distance themselves from any dispute.


General Comments

We did not intend to make a claim on insurance but when we 'phoned for breakdown assistance were told we were not covered and the operator contacted Zurich, the company the AA had insured us with. We have had nothing but problems with the claim. Both the AA and Zurich will only supply us with 0870 numbers. The AA told us we should deal with Zurich. When we 'phoned Zurich their operator told us we had to deal with the AA as they were the brokers. The AA told us we had been misinformed by Zurich. Zurich then told us they couldn't even access our policy details - we'd have to deal with the AA. We no longer have the car but don't even know if the policy is still valid as neither company will take any reponsibility for cancelling it.
All in all, a VERY expensive and frustrating experience. We are complaining formally - still waiting for a response from Zurich - and will doubtless be contacting the ombudsman.
I would advise staying well clear of the AA for motor insurance.
