Good Points

The styling of the Vito is new and stylish. It is lower than the VW comparison and driving feel is closer to a car than a van.


Bad Points

My 2005 model went back to the dealer at 4 days because rust was starting to appear and has been back about every 8 months since.
The indifference of the dealer on just about all matters is a massive dissapointment.
The Northamptonshire dealer has continually reset the service counter incorrectly to 14700 miles. I now use an independant garage and the service counter is in the region of 22000 miles.
That's a 50% saving.


General Comments

This 2005 Mercedes Vito is good to drive and looks considerably better than it's competitors.
But my first Mercedes has still been a big disapointment due to manufacturing and support.
It has only had a couple of mechanical failures, quite impresive for 125000 miles. But, rusting bodywork is unacceptable.
On a commercial vehicle, money is what counts. My local Mercedes service agent charges almost £100 per hour and each repair has had to be corrected at least once.
I refuse to pay that rate for these guys to learn.
After putting it in for a repair, it came back with the fuel tank breather hose kinked. This caused the fuel pump to fail.
Warrenty repaired it but the van couldn't work for 4 days.
I requested an explination from the agent and Mercedes customer support as to why the hose had been moved and both dismissed the issue without answering.
I am now looking for a replacement and it seems my custom will return to VW.
