General Comments

I've had my Vespa LX50 for nearly a month and love nipping around London on it. It's perfect, if like me, you're a novice scooter rider and only have short distances in town to make (anything more than 10 miles and you're pushing it a bit). The bike looks stylish, is a doddle to ride thanks to automatic transmission and has great acceleration (0-20 in about 2 seconds), however the restriction on the speed is a big limitation - only being able to do 27 mph means you feel embarrassed on clear roads when you're holding back frustrated drivers and other scooters race past you. I'm going to get mine de-restricted when I take it in for its first 1,000 km service. Fuel consumtion is good. I stick about a fiver in once or twice a week and this gets me about 10 miles a day. My only other gripe with the LX50 is the centre stand. If you're not used to bikes it's quite a tricky manoeuvre getting it on the stand and it took me ages (and lots of sore arms and shoulders) to get the hang of it. Apart from that I'm very pleased with my purchase and will take good care of her (I've seen a few LX's only a couple of years old on the road looking very rusty and beaten up). Hopefully mine will last.
