The HP 3220n is a good unit for the price. It has plenty of memory (2 MB upgradeable to 4 MB) and a large hard drive (400 GB). If you are pinched for space this unit is about 1/3 the size of a normal tower which makes it convenient for someone with a tight work station. It comes preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. Also comes with a DualCore AMD Athlon 64X2 2600MHZ (13 x 200) 5000+ Live processor. Other features include a USP wireless 802.11 b/g network adapter and a built in TV tuner.
Excessive heat was a slight problem with me but I solved that problem with a small desk fan placed at the vented side of the tower. I was originally getting temps of 70-80c for the MCP which I am told are acceptable levels but seemed a little to warm for my taste and 20-25c for the dual cores. With the desk fan in use those temps drop to 46-49c for the MCP and 12-7c for the dual cores. The CPU temp remains constant at 40c.
In general, although I have read that some people don't like the size of this unit because they say everything has to be tightly packed into the tower, I find it to be acceptable. I have owned this system for about 6 months and have found it to be reliable for my needs. I would recommend the HP 3220n to anyone interested in upgrading their older PC.
