General Comments
Because Alliance and Leicester don't seem to have any dedicated business branches, you have to do everything through the Post Office or by post which means if you receive a cheque from a customer on a Monday, you'll be lucky to have that cheque cleared 10 days later. I had/have so many problems with A&L and their lead time on cheque cashing I've now just cancelled the account.
