The caravan was first class, a good size and spotless. Not knowing much about caravans it was either new or recently re-furbished. The welcome on site was good with Bradley Bear welcoming the cars as you drove on site and the girls on the check in desk were pleasant and helpful. The security on site was good considering the camp wasn't fenced all round also the lads were helpful when asked questions and directions. The kids entertainment on the whole was pretty good, though some of it was very loud and scared some of the smaller ones.
I thought the cleanliness in the bar/venues was poor, especially the tables that were always sticky and a lot of service in these areas was handled by the seemingly young disinterested staff. Dirty dishes left for ages after diners had left etc. The kids entertainment early in our stay with characters acting plays wasn't met well by the smaller kids with them leaving in droves and Rory the tigers very loud American accent grated after a while and everything extra cost.. The swimming pools weren't bad but the flume opened every half hour for only about 5 mins, why? Also on the swimming front some of our party booked a 1/2 hour session supposedly playing on machines that towed you through the water, there is only 3 machines and 6 kids had booked so look out for that if you go. The hire towels were hanging, drying in the swimming pool after it closed, don't know if they were washed or just hung out to dry? The trains are a pain, I know nothing to do with Presthaven but after 6.30 am train Drivers have to sound their horns at foot crossings, which one is near the camp so it worked as an effective alarm clock! For us though a big downside was the complete lack of open space for the kids to play ball in while we could watch, like Prestatyn Pontins has. The venues were very hot and could have been bigger.
We booked Presthaven Sands instead of our usual Pontins Prestatyn (I have relatives in N Wales) holiday partly because of the poor reviews the place is getting and the fact that their loyalty deals weren't as good this year. Just enough to keep our party happy (Age range 69 down to very young) though we were off camp every day bar one out of 7. It seems to modeled on the Pontins formula of 2 venues and a pub centred round the amusement arcade. Your own transport is very helpful as you are a bit out the way and as most camps we'd get bored if we spent all week in the camp. Overall the accommodation was far superior, the security was better than Pontins Prestatyn the rest was not any better, more free things to do at Pontins and I personally didn't see any anti social behavior though there could have been. I would go again.
