Good Points

Great acceleration, smaller sized "maxi" on the market (it's not a sofa on wheels like the others!), good top speed, digital dash.

Bad Points

Only reasonable fuel economy (this may be an issue only with my scooter?), large and wide mirrors come as standard.

General Comments

I've had my Kymco B&W 250 (known as a Bug Hawk here in Australia) for a year now and have over 6000k's on the clock, and overall I am quite happy with it. Besides the standard servicing nothing has gone wrong with it (touch wood!). It's quite a good all round scooter in that it is quite agile when used in city/built up areas and has great acceleration off the mark and easily reaches speed, and with a top speed of around 130k's per hour it's certainly fine to go on longer distance trips too. It does well carrying a pillion and I do this often, however for a trip of an hour + you tend to get a sore bum. I've heard that the softness of seats is something that Kymco/Bug are not renowned for! The standard mirrors are great in terms of being able to see heaps behind you but unfortunately they both vibrate a bit and are wide, reducing your ability to split through traffic. For this reason I removed these and put on some cheap, lighter, round mirrors, which have done the trick superbly. The only thing that I dislike is the fuel economy. For some reason I only seem to be getting about 16-17k's per litre, where I hear that other people on the same capacity scooter can get double that. I've just had a service today where the air filter was thoroughly cleaned, and the mechanic believes this may make a difference. Here's hoping. This is possibly just an issue with my particular Hawk as I know other people do not have a problem.
