Good Points

Plenty of choice in food, not in the centre near all the hustle and bustle, 3 outdoor pools so always somewhere to sunbathe, housekeeping were excellent providing fresh towels everyday.

Bad Points

The music being played by the pool for aquagym, not what I wanted when trying to relax. Also, we had issue with the security guards at night.

General Comments

Me and 4 of my female friends (all aged 20) have just come back from a week in Lloret de Mar. We stayed in the Hotel Olympic Park and after reading some reviews I was slightly dubious, but once there these doubts soon disappeared.

However, we arrived in the early hours of the morning to the night porters on reception and security guard who we found to be rude to us. We had 2 rooms and were put on totally different floors, so politely inquired whether it would be possible to change this, but the response was not so polite. However, the receptionists in the morning were very helpful and managed to change this for us straight away. The security guard proceeded to follow us up the stairs telling us to be quiet. We'd been travelling since 8pm and it was now 5 in the morning, we were hardly being rowdy, more like half asleep!!

Admittedly, most nights we did come in at 4/5 in the morning, but unlike most 20 year olds we were aware that there were other people in the hotel trying to sleep so we were as quiet as possible, but we felt we were being unfairly treated by the security guards, almost being tarred by the same brush!! However, it didn't help that the walls were really thin, so any slight noise was magnified. My advice to the hotel would be to put all young people on the same floor, all families on the same floor etc.

On a more positive note, the food was of a high standard. I don't eat red meat (only fish) and I always found something to eat. There was a variety of salads, soup, pasta, meats, cheeses and then the chef would cook something in the restaurant- i.e. paella, burgers, fajtas. It was similar in the morning with either a typical continental breakfast, or eggs, sausages and bacon. The waiting on staff were always very polite and would have a joke with you.

Housekeeping were always polite and very quick. When we checked out at 9:30am, we had left something in the room so went back 40mins later and they had already turned the room around for the next guests.

All the pools were great, plenty of room to sunbathe and the water wasn't too cold as some other reviews have mentioned. However, people did tend to go and put their towels down early in the morning to save a spot, which was prohibited, but people still tended to do it.

Something that we did notice as Brits was that there weren't many of us- mainly German and Dutch people. The first night we made friends with a group of lads from the hotel that were also British and we hung around together for the rest of the holiday, as we couldn't really associate with the rest of the guests.

Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and were impressed with the standard of the hotel. Our only regret is that we didn't stay for 2 weeks!!
