Lily is a very intelligent Patterdale Terrier, 20 months old and black. She is small, very fast and very easy to train. She likes most people, other dogs, cats, everyone. She is just a dog who is loves life - and thinks everyone loves her back. She is gentle and will take treats from your fingers very carefully.
When young had a tendency to jump and attempt to bite - especially faces. She never did bite anyone though, and was playing rather than being aggressive. She can get out of her collar and do a runner - but comes back. She can be 'deaf' when she wants to, especially when it is time to walk back.
I chose a Patterdale, because they don't shed as much as other breeds, and don't have that 'doggy' smell, even though they are outdoors dogs. I found Lily very easy to train, not with shouting or hitting, but not with many treats either, she just has the will to please. I also chose a girl, because they don't bark constantly, and seem to be very loyal and caring.
Once Lily realised that she was not 'Alpha', in fact she comes after the children and cats, she was happy. She has been spayed, even though she never had to fight off any male attention through the 2 seasons she had. She tends to treat male dogs with superior disdain, but loves playing with other female dogs. I made sure she was socialised with other dogs, and people from the beginning.
I am the lucky one having such a loyal 'shadow' who chooses to live in our mad house.
