One good point: you can use a PC Hard Disk. That's the only point about the Nikkai A52HF. Tuners on these devices are faulty and bad quality. I live 1 mile away from a Crystal Palace Digital Transmitter, but the signal strength on Nikkai A52HF never reached above 40%. Got a roof top aerial, which works fine with my other set top boxes.
The loop through on the tuners does not work either. The tuners are duff.
The Zoran processor is incredibly slow. The software is poorly made. When changing channels, you see 2 seconds of blank screen and a further 2 second delay.
Picture quality is poor, utilising the the slowest decoder chips I have ever seen. There is a lot of pixelation at the best of times.
Sound will cut out every now and then on some channels.
I decided to return it to Maplin, told them it was crap. Basically the suits at maplin have no idea of the best technology to sell to their customers. This one is a Lemon. Do not buy it unless you have a spare Hard Drive and you want to play about.
