I think John Lewis Online is destroying their reputation.
I think John Lewis Online is second rate internet shopping. Bought a £1300 JLRC101 Range Cooker (AEG branded as John Lewis) online, mainly because it would be delivered within 14 days and, I'd be at home for a few days around then and I needed it in a hurry.
To start with I was mistakenly told been shipped, I called to find out when and was told the order hadn't been forwarded to AEG-Electrolux but I'd get a call back to confirm all was ok (I didn't receive a call). When I called again to check the order had been processed I was told that it was 14 days delivery.
Day 13 arrived and no sign of a cooker so I called again. Again I wait for a call back but this time it happens. The order had only just gone through to the supplier I'd get a call the following week to arrange delivery. Why can't they call me this week? No idea, it appears John Lewis certainly don't want to find out for me so eventually I get their number and do it myself. Anyway, I now have a delivery date, but its 3 weeks from when I ordered so thats another week of takeways and a day off work.
The bottom line is that I feel their reputation for service hasn't made it to their internet operation and they've built their business using the same operating model as every other pile it high/sell it cheap Web company. Maybe that will do more harm than good for the brand?
