General Comments

Sony Ericsson K800i
Extremely disappointed with the phone's battery life and after sales service provided by Sony.
The K800i was bought on the basis of battery life and a good camera. All references and documents stated that the battery life would last 14 days (350 hours). The actual time the battery life lasted with full signal reception, 3G turned off and other recommended switch offs implemented was a total of five days at the very most. Disappointed with the K800i, I returned the K800i back to the shop, where it was bought, for an explanation. The shop's response was to change the battery. The K800i was tested again and still came out nine days short of the stated 14 days. I returned to the shop once more in order to return the K800i as it did not match the standard as per the documentation. This time the shop's response was, 'Sorry but the phone is now over the 28 days limit for return.' I stated that I had returned the K800i previously and I was told that it was the battery at fault. This means I was the guinea pig for testing the K800i but this was at my expense due to the 28 days time limit. The only other option given by the shop was that the K800i should be returned to the manufacture (Sony Ericsson), otherwise I was stuck with the K800i. The K800i was duly returned to Sony Ericsson as it was clearly malfunctioning.
The phone was returned to me within 13 days with no documentation, no report stating what had been tested and certainty no apology.
As the battery power was flat, I phoned Sony Ericsson for advice as to how long should I charge the phone because the documentation supplied with the phone stated approximately 2.5 hours or until the battery icon indicates a full charge. The adviser from Sony Ericsson stated that no phones actually last the stated time on the documentation due to the phone searching for signal. Also they stated the phone is to be charged until the battery icon shows full and the phoned could not overcharge as the phone is equipped with a stop charge or trickle charge device.
The same process for testing was implemented and the same result returned. The phone only lasts a maximum of five days and not the over stated 14 days as per the documentation. This also now suggests that the documentation provided by Sony Ericsson is a fabrication the true battery life in order to be similar with other leading brands such as Nokia and Samsung.
