Ray Mears' Bushcraft provides a wonderful insight into the diets, hunting methods, cooking techniques and general survival techniques from cultures past and present. He has a great interest and love for civilisations that have lived and live in harmony with their environments, how they do it and their belief systems. I believe in a decade or so he will have had a significant impact on how people look at the environment and their lifestyle, without being preachy, but by educating on cultures and ways of life that exist. In Bushcraft, different cultural approaches to diet, hunting, food preservation, and preparation are demonstrated and it's interesting to see how it differs from a modern western approach.
