Good Points

Wonderful old house with thatched roof and clean, comfortable rooms; excellent food all made by the owners; beautiful garden; excellent, individual tours either of your own choosing or with help from the family; courteous, safe drivers in comfortable vehicles; easy, and pleasant local walking paths.


Bad Points

Church House is located in a peaceful, small village that doesn't have all the amenities that some travellers may think they need, for example many shops. This is not really a bad point, just something to consider.


General Comments

I have been to Church House three times and it is a great place to go for a fun, yet relaxed time. The owners are excellent hosts who go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. The food is wonderful, cooked by the family, from local products and often with produce from their own garden. Their garden is beautiful and a great spot to relax with a book and a cup of tea after a day of touring. There is also a lounge with a TV and a supply of tour guides or novels to read. Guests arrange their own tours with suggestions from the owners to maximize what can be seen. I wanted to see gardens, some that I knew about and others that the owner suggested, so we went to many places in the local countryside. It was great to walk around the gardens with someone as knowledgeable about plants as he is. Church House can arrange pick up and drop off service in London and elsewhere. My driver, Bob, was interesting and knew local, small roads with interesting sites and stops, for example feeding the fish, shopping and visiting a local church for a flower show in Stockbridge on the way from London, so even getting to Church House was a fun trip. I highly recommend Church House to anyone who wants a relaxed, individualized vacation, but with enough sightseeing to satisfy even the most ambitious traveler.
